gentle trail to the Aberdare Satima Peak Rising to an altitude of 4\,001m
(13\,126ft) above sea level\, Oldoinyo Lesatima is the highest of the Abe
rdares peaks and the third-highest peak in Kenya. It is located on the Nor
thern side of the Aberdare range and can be accessed via two points: Mweig
a (Wandare Trail) and Rhino and Shamata Gates (Mt Satima Dragon’s Teeth
Hike). We immerse ourselves in the Nyandarua magic all over again on a mod
erate ascent. Our access gate of choice is the Wandare Gate\, off the Nyer
i-Nyahururu highway near Mweiga. We begin our adventure by driving 15km in
to the park\, through the dense bamboo forest\, to the trail's starting po
int. We then hit the 10.5km trail through the beautiful golden moorland to
get to the Oldoinyo Lesatima peak at 4\,001m above sea level. Mount Satim
